At Light in the Darkness, we are dedicated to serving the homeless, hungry, and vulnerable in our community with dignity, compassion, and unwavering faith. Our nonprofit organization provides hot meals, clothing, and spiritual support to individuals and families facing hardship. We believe every person deserves hope, healing, and a path toward a brighter future. Through community outreach, volunteer support, and faith-driven care, we work daily to uplift those in need and shine light into the darkest moments of their lives.
What We Do
- Provide Meals to homeless, hungry, & vulnerable in our community
- Through generous community donations, we provide clothing that brings warmth, comfort, and dignity to those in need.
Why It Matters
- In 2025, the Point-in-Time (PIT) count — a snapshot of homelessness on a single night — counted about 725 individuals experiencing homelessness in Grand Junction. That reflects roughly a 100% increase since 2019 (when 361 were counted).
- Broader assessments and community surveys estimate that the total number of people experiencing houselessness across Mesa County (including Grand Junction) may be around 2,300-2,415 individuals in recent years.
- Homelessness in the area has risen significantly over the past several years, with increases in both unsheltered homelessness and overall need for services.
